Odyssey ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Pranta Dutta. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Odyssey mobile application ("App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address
• Display name
• Profile picture (if provided)

Authentication Data

• Login credentials (securely hashed)
• Google Sign-In tokens (if using Google authentication)
• Firebase authentication identifiers

Trip & Travel Data

• Trip itineraries, destinations, and dates
• Activities, packing lists, and budgets
• Travel notes and journal entries

Media

• Photos and videos you upload to your trips
• Memory pins and associated location data

Location Information

• Location data associated with trip activities and memory pins
• Map interaction data (viewed regions, saved places)

Device Information

• Device type and operating system
• App version
• Push notification tokens
• Device or other identifiers (including the Advertising ID, app instance identifiers, and crash-related device identifiers) collected automatically by the third-party services listed in Section 5

Advertising Data

For users on the free tier, the App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. In connection with advertising, the following may be collected and shared:

• Advertising ID and related device identifiers
• Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)

Premium/subscribed users are not shown ads. You can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time through your device's privacy settings.

Analytics & Diagnostics Data

• App usage and interaction events (via Firebase Analytics)
• Crash reports, stack traces, and diagnostic device information (via Firebase Crashlytics)

Purchase Data

• Subscription status and type
• In-app purchase history (processed through the app store from which you downloaded the App)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
• Enable trip planning, tracking, and memory storage
• Sync your data across devices
• Send push notifications (trip reminders, sharing invitations)
• Process subscriptions and in-app purchases
• Generate travel statistics and achievements
• Improve the App's performance and features

3. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored securely on our servers using encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
• Sensitive credentials (passwords, tokens) are encrypted at rest
• The App supports offline functionality; local data is stored on your device using encrypted local storage
• We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following cases:

• With other users: When you explicitly share trips or accept collaboration invitations
• Service providers: Firebase (authentication, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting), cloud hosting providers
• Advertising partners: For free-tier users, we share the Advertising ID and related device identifiers with Google AdMob to serve and measure advertisements
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

5. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication (Google) - Account sign-in and identity
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) - Push notifications
• Firebase Analytics (Google) - App usage analytics
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) - Crash reporting and diagnostics
• Google AdMob (Google) - Advertising for free-tier users (collects and shares the Advertising ID)
• Google Sign-In - Optional social login
• App store billing - In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by the app store from which you downloaded the App

Consent (EEA / UK)

Where required by law, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent before serving personalized advertisements. You may withdraw or change your consent at any time from within the App.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored in the App
• Update your profile information at any time
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your trip data
• Opt out of push notifications through device settings

7. Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active
• Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days
• Anonymous, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
